10-inch or 14-inch straight needles?
Length depends on how many stitches you need to hold. 10-inch needles are light and easy to handle for scarves, dishcloths, baby items, and sweater pieces worked in panels. 14-inch needles hold more stitches, which helps with wide blankets, shawls, and bulky yarn. Wood needles are warm in the hand and grip the yarn a little, which helps keep slippery fibers like silk and bamboo from sliding off.
