Hand carders for small-batch fiber preparation
Hand carders let you open, blend, and align small amounts of fiber by hand, for spinning or felting. This collection includes Kromski carders in 72 and 108 TPI, Louet carders in standard, fine, and mini sizes, Leclerc carders, and Kromski bundles that come with natural Corriedale roving.
Choose cloth density for the task
Start with the carding cloth, measured in teeth per inch (TPI). A lower TPI, like 72, works through medium and coarser wools. A higher TPI, like 108, is gentler on fine fibers. Hand carders are ideal for sampling colors, blending small batches, and rolling rolags at your own pace. New to carding? A bundle gets you carders and fiber to practice on in one order.
