Glimakra looms and weaving accessories

Glimakra is a Swedish loom maker with a long tradition of Scandinavian weaving. This collection includes three rigid heddle looms, the folding Emilia, the Siru, and the Susanna, plus the Julia floor loom in counterbalance and countermarch versions. You'll also find Julia countermarch and 20-shaft drawloom expansion kits, rigid heddles for each loom, stainless steel reeds, lease sticks, a Susanna floor stand, and an Emilia carry bag.

Counterbalance or countermarch?

This is the big question for floor loom shoppers. On a counterbalance loom, the shafts balance against each other, which suits balanced weaves like twills and plain weave on four shafts. On a countermarch loom, every shaft is tied to rise or sink, giving a clean, even shed with more shafts and unbalanced tie-ups. The Julia can start as counterbalance and be upgraded later with the countermarch kit. Heddles, reeds, and stands are specific to each Glimakra model and width, so check the listing before you order.
