Jagger Spun Yarn

JaggerSpun has closed its mill, and these yarns are no longer in production. We've left the full line listed here with original specs so you can match a count, yardage, or blend against what we still stock. Our Zephira line is our direct replacement for Zephyr.

What happened to JaggerSpun, and what to use now

JaggerSpun spun yarn in Springvale, Maine for decades, and their cones were a fixture in weaving studios: Maine Line, Heather, Mousam Falls, Super Lamb, Green Line, and above all Zephyr. The mill has closed and production has ended. Nothing on this page is restockable.

We've kept the listings up on purpose. If you're trying to finish a project, match a warp, or substitute into a pattern written for one of these yarns, the counts, yardages, and fiber contents here are the reference you need.

Substituting for Zephyr 2/18: our Zephira Wool-Silk cone is the direct replacement: the same 50% superfine Merino / 50% Tussah silk blend at the same 2/18 lace count, on a 1 lb cone at roughly 4,456 yards, dyed in controlled batches. It setts and finishes like Zephyr did, so a draft written for Zephyr needs no recalculation.

Substituting for the wool cone lines: Brown Sheep's Nature Spun cones cover much of the Maine Line range in 100% wool at fingering and sport weight, and Bockens carries the finer cotton and linen counts for weaving warp.
